Peter Edworthy
Partner
Peter Edworthy is a Partner specialising in international arbitration, with more than 15 years’ experience acting as counsel and advocate under all major arbitral rules.
His practice has a particular focus on disputes arising out of energy, construction, infrastructure and telecoms projects, often involving complex contractual structures, state or state-owned entities, and multi-jurisdictional enforcement issues.
Peter has extensive experience conducting arbitrations seated in leading international hubs, including London, Paris and Singapore, and regularly acts in proceedings under the ICC, LCIA and SIAC Rules. Alongside his arbitration practice, he advises on High Court and Court of Appeal litigation and has substantial experience of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, adjudication and expert determination.
He is an accredited Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is a recognised contributor to arbitration scholarship. Peter has published widely on international arbitration and co-authored the arbitration chapter on international arbitration in Dispute Resolution in the Energy Sector: A Practitioner’s Handbook (Globe Law & Business).
Peter also undertakes pro bono work, including representing individuals in Employment Tribunal proceedings, and volunteers at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau at the Royal Courts of Justice.

- Acting for a Brazilian power plant owner and operator in an ICC arbitration concerning a project-critical pricing dispute under an LNG supply contract.
- Acting for an Indonesian power company in two Singapore-seated ICC arbitrations under an EPC contract and a power purchase agreement arising from the construction of a geothermal power plant.
- Acting for a South Asian government in LCIA and ICC arbitrations arising from LNG supply contracts, involving disputes over non-delivery and pricing.
- Acting for a power plant owner in the Philippines in a dispute with its contractor relating to defects and claims for additional works.
- Acting for a US power company in an LCIA arbitration concerning breaches of a joint development agreement for a gas-fired power plant project in Côte d’Ivoire.
- Acting for a group of international lenders in a Paris-seated ICC arbitration involving force majeure, bribery and corruption allegations under a tolling agreement for an LNG facility in Egypt.
- Acting for a Qatari energy company in an ICC arbitration relating to delay and cost claims arising from the construction of a USD 750 million polysilicon plant.
- Acting for a South Asian government in High Court proceedings concerning the recognition and enforcement of an ICSID award arising from a USD 900 million power generation dispute.
- Advising the owner of a regasification terminal in Chile in relation to ICC disputes with a contractor concerning alleged defects.
- Acting for Rabobank in multi-party High Court proceedings relating to claims of unlawful means conspiracy and dishonest assistance arising from the purchase of an Ugandan bank. This case was included in The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases for 2026.
- Acting for a large Turkish bank in LCIA arbitration and related BVI litigation arising out of a shareholder dispute over the ownership of a Turkish telecommunications company.
- Acting for a Bahraini company in DIFC-LCIA arbitrations concerning a shareholder dispute over restaurant franchise rights in the UAE.
- Acting for a US satellite operator in High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings arising from a satellite services contract in Pakistan.
