Seladore acts successfully for BP in stunning victory against Venture Global
13 October 2025
As revealed publicly in media reports last Friday, BP has prevailed in its arbitration claim (liability phase) against US liquified natural gas (LNG) company Venture Global, arising from Venture Global’s breaches under a long-term supply contract.
Several other oil and gas majors have brought arbitration claims against Venture Global. Shell’s claim was unsuccessful. BP is the first among them to have prevailed. Now that liability has been determined against Venture Global, a damages phase will follow.
Seladore was pleased to serve as co-counsel with BP’s long-time external counsel, Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer. Seladore partner Laurence Shore was one of the advocates acting for BP.
Seladore Senior Partner, Simon Bushell commented: “We are proud to have been part of this blockbuster claim. Larry is a wonderful advocate and Seladore of course has a long-standing relationship with HSFK.”
