The Norwich Pharmacal sets sail again

8 September 2022

From 1 October, the English Civil Procedure Rules will undergo a landmark change.

Fraud lawyers in search of missing money or assets will now be able to obtain pre-action orders from the English High Court to be served on any third party, anywhere in the world.

The significance of the change, which will likely cover most Norwich Pharmacal and Bankers Trust situations, cannot be overstated. The extra-territorial reach now available to English lawyers will be unmatched in the world, and will have profound repercussions in cases of cross border fraud and asset tracing.
