International Arbitration
Seladore Legal’s international arbitration practice is defined by its deep expertise and strategic approach to complex, high-value commercial disputes.
Expertise across major arbitral rules and industries
We act under all major arbitral rules, including those of the LCIA, ICC, ICSID, DIAC, ICDR, UNCITRAL, SIAC, AAA, and Swiss Arbitration Centre. Our clients include corporates, sovereign states, and investors in industries such as telecommunications, energy, infrastructure, and finance. With a strong global focus, we have significant experience in Europe, Eurasia, and the Middle East.
Resolving complex commercial disputes
Our team excels in handling a wide range of arbitration matters, including disputes involving joint ventures, cross-border transactions, and valuable assets. We are particularly skilled in resolving disputes arising from partnership breakdowns in joint ventures and infrastructure projects, as well as addressing challenges linked to complex regulatory and licensing frameworks.
Managing procedural and jurisdictional complexities
We are adept at addressing complex procedural and jurisdictional issues, managing high-value claims and counterclaims, and working with eminent arbitral tribunals on cases involving equitable remedies, intricate damages inquiries, and procedural challenges.
Arbitration-related litigation and enforcement
Seladore has extensive experience in arbitration-related litigation, including challenges to and enforcement of awards, securing freezing orders, and managing ancillary proceedings in support of arbitration. Our deep litigation expertise in complex commercial disputes complements our arbitration practice, enabling us to provide seamless representation at every stage of the dispute resolution process.
Expertise in investor-state disputes
We have substantial experience in investor-state disputes, advising on claims for expropriation, regulatory overreach, and breaches of international investment treaties. These high-value disputes often involve claims against governments and require a nuanced understanding of public international law, bilateral investment treaties, and sector-specific regulatory frameworks. Our work in this area has included politically sensitive disputes, where commercial and diplomatic considerations are carefully balanced to achieve favourable outcomes.
Leadership in international arbitration
Laurence (Larry) Shore, a distinguished international arbitration practitioner, joined Seladore Legal as partner in September 2024. Larry brings decades of experience, having previously co-headed international arbitration practices at leading firms in Milan and New York. During his time at Herbert Smith Freehills, he was instrumental in establishing the firm’s international arbitration group as a separate practice area in 2005, further solidifying his reputation as a leader in the field.
